OH WORD?

It’s always an exciting day when Esteban Whiteside drops new artwork in the #FolkArtwork Collective shop. Peep these new original drawings by the self-taught artist Esteban Whiteside, who just recently opened the solo show “Think Tank” at Nomu Nomu in Baltimore.

Having always been inspired by outspoken artists, after seeing the death of Michael Brown, he felt he could no longer create work that didn’t address social issues, and began developing an artist narrative stemming from circumstances affecting the Black community.

The rawness and realness of these works are what first attracted me to Esteban’s work, and I’m always impressed to see where he continues to push his work and what he comes up with next.

ESTEBAN WHITESIDE is a self-taught painter whose work is based on the intersectionality of street art and politics. A native of Asheville, North Carolina, he began painting as an act of love, which then led to him dedicating more time and research into painting, with an interest in abstraction.
