The Bill Traylor Database is live, and it is beautiful! Who better to talk to than Kylie Ryu, who returns to the FolkArtwork and Friends podcast.
Kylie Ryu, the Associate Director at Ricco/Maresca Gallery, returns to the FolkArtwork and Friends podcast to talk about the life and work of Bill Traylor and how, for the past year, she has been working tirelessly as part of a team to create the Bill Traylor Database — a free, publicly accessible, ongoing research resource dedicated to the study of Bill Traylor’s art.
We talk about how the project came to be in collaboration with Chasing Ghosts documentary director Jeffrey Wolf, what she learned about Bill Traylor’s work after spending so much time intimately documenting his work, as well as an exclusive story of how it came to be and how Kylie was almost never even a part of the project, or the world of outsider art at all!
If you haven’t yet, go to billtraylordatabase.org to see over 1,000 works of art by the one and only Bill Traylor and learn all about his exhibition history and more. Plus, follow Kylie on Instagram and be sure to see more at Ricco/Maresca Gallery in New York City.
It’s back to the regular schedule of episodes being released on the first Friday of the month. Continue to listen on your favorite podcast player — Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, and with video on YouTube. Like, subscribe, share, and keep coming back for more. Thanks so much!
