I’m truly honored and grateful for the ability to share my next conversation.
Iranian self-taught artist Affsoongar (Farsi for “enchantress”) joins the FolkArtwork and Friends podcast to talk about outsider art inspiring her to make art after dropping out of architectural school, life growing up in Iran, as a kid watching television and not seeing many strong female heroes (other than Kim Possible and Buffy The Vampire Slayer), making art while the United States drops bombs on your country, and the bittersweet emotions of having artwork on display at the Outsider Art Fair but not being able to enjoy it due to living in a digital blackout.
Support Affsoongar by following her on Instagram @affs00ngar, buying digital prints of her work, and spreading her story far and wide.
Now that Art Environment Summer is over, it’s back to the regular schedule of episodes being released on the first Friday of the month. Continue to listen on your favorite podcast player — Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, and with video on YouTube. Like, subscribe, share, and keep coming back for more. Thanks so much!
