Some things are just meant to be. After first corresponding with Lesley Miserables a few years ago as he was just first beginning to pick up a paint brush and finding his groove, the artist M. Turner and I have finally partnered up to bring to you his enchanting self-taught works exploring nature and it’s influence, through a stream of colorful consciousness.

“Landscape / Portrait” by Lesley Miserables
LESLEY MISERABLES Landscape / Portrait (2024) // Acrylic on canvas — Original work of art by Lesley Miserables, this work is unframed and measures 24 inches x 20 inches.
The London based artist brings some playful expressionism from across the pond to the FolkArtwork Collective, the second artist added this year after a wildly successful start to the year at the 2025 Outsider Art Fair (and now that things have finally settled down and I’ve caught up on my sleep!), and he will be the second artist selling work from the United Kingdom.
LESLEY MISERABLES is painter M. Turner. Growing up in the heart of the Midlands, with thick dense city scapes just a few miles away from roaring country side, where a clear night time sky was observed, with the wonder and mysteries of life and an existence soaked into the mind and body and stored somewhere to be revisited another time.
Now based full time in London, from a sturdy shed at the bottom of his garden, M. Turner therapeutically works his way through years of mental images, feelings and thoughts, considerations and perplexmxent are now attempted to be brushed down onto a canvas.
Having never studied, been taught or had any guidance in painting, M Turner explores his own ability and each painting represents a true naivety and showcases the artistic journey.
About the FolkArtwork Collective
It brings me great pleasure to introduce the FolkArtwork Collective — a fantastic group of self-taught and emerging artists from across the globe. Jackie Bradshaw, Esteban Whiteside, Sarah Lee, and Noel Hatfield are the first artists to bring original artwork directly to the FolkArtwork web store on both FolkArtwork.art/shop and directly on Instagram. I am very pleased to also add Reneesha Mccoy, Jordan Sullivan, Gabrielle K Brown, Christopher Bame, Max Kuhn, Ben Gardner and in 2024, Melody Jean Moulton, Dinah Hanson-Carrillo, Lindsay Carraway, Kathy Edwards Hayslett, Lorena Eliasen, and Mike Combs were added to the collective. And after a successful start to 2025 at the Outsider Art Fair, the FolkArtwork Collective is pleased to welcome Des Moines based artist Alexandre Shiffer and London based artist Lesley Miserables, with more to come!
After six years of running this account, sharing daily art by great outsider and self-taught artists who are no longer with us, I am thrilled to share this space with current artists to assist in their artistic journey and bring their artwork to the masses and maybe to a home near you.
I am excited to see FolkArtwork evolve and grow. It will continue to share daily outsider artwork by some of the greatest artists ever, pictures from travels across the country, visiting unknown and hidden art environments, and now offering original artwork for sale.
