Meet Polish Folk Artist Sam Planetta, Featured Artist of the Week

A few years ago, Sam Planetta started making paper-cut art based on traditional Polish “wycinanki”, drawn heavily from work from the Łowicz region of Poland.

They are, needlessly to say, stunning. The skill, attention to detail, and fascinating imagery from the artists’ own personal experience make for some of the more interesting and honest modern folk art pieces you’ll see.

This work is 100% hand-cut, with scissors, as in the tradition of this type of folk artwork. They are created with various materials including cardstock, posterboard, welfare envelope, origami paper, construction paper, cigarette pack foil, glue, craft wrap.
