for all the folks

Orignal mixed media work of art by self-taught artist Mike Combs titled, "Creep #20".

Here Come The “Creeps,” Mike Combs’ Wonderfully Weird Works of Art Added to The FolkArtwork Collective

When the FolkArtwork Collective started a few years back, it all started with artists I respected and their work continuously blew me away. I’m excited to say that “mission statement” has stayed the course, as I’m beyond thrilled to be bringing these wonderful “Creeps” created by the super talented Mike Combs to the FolkArtwork Collective.

A few weeks back I shared a few of Mike’s ‘brain children’ and they were met with a superb warm welcome. And today, available for purchase right now (while supplies last), there are many more “Creeps” for you to enjoy.

Each one more creepy, and cute, and adorable than the next, these are roughly 10-11 inch works of art that are light weight (created on a nice little husked corn crate) and ready to be hung as soon as it hits your door step. My “Creep” hangs on the wall right next to me here as I write this and makes my children say, “that’s creepy, but cool”.

MIKE COMBS is a self-taught artist from Austin, Texas who for the past decade has been creating “Creeps” on up cycled husk corn crates using spray paint, house paint, and acrylic paint. You can find his “Creeps” on the walls of private collections across the country, as well as Austin galleries and streets.

There are 27 “Creeps” and counting, and while it’s impossible to pick your favorite, get yours today before they’re gone.

About the FolkArtwork Collective

It brings me great pleasure to introduce the FolkArtwork Collective — a fantastic group of self-taught and emerging artists from across the globe. Jackie Bradshaw, Esteban Whiteside, Sarah Lee, and Noel Hatfield are the first artists to bring original artwork directly to the FolkArtwork web store on both FolkArtwork.art/shop and directly on Instagram. I am very pleased to also add Reneesha Mccoy, Jordan Sullivan, Gabrielle K Brown, Christopher Bame, Max Kuhn, Ben Gardner and in 2024, Melody Jean Moulton, Dinah Hanson-Carrillo, Lindsay Carraway, Kathy Edwards Hayslett, Lorena Eliasen, and Mike Combs to the collective.

After four years of running this account, sharing daily art by great outsider and self-taught artists who are no longer with us, I am thrilled to share this space with current artists to assist in their artistic journey and bring their artwork to the masses and maybe to a home near you.

I am excited to see FolkArtwork evolve and grow. It will continue to share daily outsider artwork by some of the greatest artists ever, pictures from travels across the country, visiting unknown and hidden art environments, and now offering original artwork for sale.

Later this year the first ever FolkArtwork exhibit will take place in Des Moines, Iowa — catch the “Faces In The Crowd” opening reception on November 9th, from 5pm – 8pm at the Fitch Building.
