Shout Out to Anthony Coleman’s Solo Exhibition “Extraterrestrial” at SAGE Studio & Gallery

Congratulations and a big shout out to Anthony Coleman, who made his first trip to the Lone Star state this week to attend the opening of his solo exhibition at SAGE Studio & Gallery titled “Extraterrestrial.”

Coleman’s work is an absolute blast. If you can and are able, I highly suggest heading to Austin, Texas, to check out this show or view all works online.

Tony Coleman (b. 1969) was born and raised in Philadelphia. Fueled by a desire to create, Coleman began drawing his unique portraits at a young age. Coleman drew on whatever he could find, cutting out each finished figure and carrying it in his wallet wherever he went. Many of these early portraits were created on discarded cardboard boxes while Coleman was working at Pizza Hut. Coleman infuses his distinct style—elongated noses, exaggerated features, antenna-like protuberances, and highly saturated colors—into his colored pencil portraits, giving familiar figures an otherworldly quality. Favorite subjects include cartoons from the ‘70s and ‘80s, celebrities, and aliens.
