Antoinette Savage’s artwork has always been inspired by ancestral stories. She channels people who moved north during reconstruction, her own relatives and specific archetypes of African American history. Savage loves to tell their stories, but for her new work she realized she needed to be quiet and let the ancestors speak to her… thus the title: “Hush: Somebody’s Callin’ My Name”.
